Dilute colours are understood to be cats with the colours blue (dilute black) and cream (dilute red).

So; dilute colours of the solids.

Blue Persian

The Blue Persian has always been the most popular long-haired cat, with its long, wavy coat, refined expression and sweet little face. It is said to originate from Persia (Iran), Turkey, China, Burma, Afghanistan and Russia! Before the 16th century, however, it was not known in Europe. In Italy, however, it was already known during the Renaissance and in India they were very popular. In the beginning the breed was mainly bred in France and England; later it also arrived in the United States.

Genetically, the blue colour is a dilution of black and originally probably the result of a cross between a black and a white cat. The Blue Persian was not placed in a separate class in England until 1889, but since then it has often stolen the show. In England the breed is so numerous that there is even a show held exclusively for Blue Persians.

Breeding:

Blue Persians are often used to obtain Blue-Cream and, because of their excellent Persian type, and for improving eye colour in other Persians.

Kittens:

At birth the kittens may have tabby markings, but these usually disappear when the adult coat develops. Often the most heavily marked kittens later have the most beautiful even blue coat. The young are born with blue eyes, but these change within a few months to deep orange.

Breed Standard:

The coat must be solid tender grey-blue all over, each hair evenly coloured from tip to root, without a trace of a lighter undercoat and without tabby markings or white hairs. In general, the palest blue is preferred. Nose and paw pads slate grey.

Eyes copper or deep orange without a greenish tinge.
